Falcon Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is run by Professor James Faulkner, a black belt who began training in 2013. What started as a hobby he shared with his son quickly grew into a deeper passion for the art. James has competed and developed his skills steadily, spending the last several years training under Rafael “Formiga” Barbosa, a respected competitor and coach. His experience at a high-level competition gym has shaped his approach to teaching and coaching at Falcon BJJ in Waxahachie. The academy offers instruction for both kids and adults, with classes structured to support recreational practitioners as well as those interested in competition. James emphasizes the positive impact Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can have on people’s lives, especially young students, and he works to create programs that reflect that belief. The gym maintains a family-oriented atmosphere, welcoming a range of skill levels. Open mat sessions for adults provide additional time to drill and spar beyond regular classes. Falcon BJJ operates out of a wheelchair-accessible facility at 2212 Trade Drive. Drop-in visitors are accepted, making it possible for newcomers or travelers to train when in town. The school’s ties to the Midlothian and Waxahachie areas are evident in its steady participation in regional tournaments, where students have represented the gym with measurable success.
