Ethos Jiu Jitsu South Bay

Ethos Jiu Jitsu South Bay is guided by founders Jerardo Linares and Brett Bannon, both black belts with deep ties to the South Bay area. Jerardo, a second-degree black belt with over two decades of experience, began his journey at San Diego State University and remains active in competition while coaching. Brett, a black belt since 2019, grew up in Torrance and has trained extensively across Southern California. Together, they emphasize Jiu-Jitsu as a path to personal growth and character development, blending technical skill with life lessons learned on the mats. The academy offers structured classes for a wide range of students, including gi and no-gi training for teens and adults. Kids’ classes focus on building confidence, discipline, and practical self-defense skills, catering to children ages 5 through 16. Adults can progress from fundamentals to more advanced techniques in an environment that prioritizes mastery of core principles. Open mat sessions provide additional time for drilling and sparring outside of regular classes. Located in Lomita, Ethos Jiu Jitsu South Bay serves the surrounding communities with accessible facilities that include parking and wheelchair access. The schedule balances beginner-friendly fundamentals with opportunities for competition preparation, reflecting the instructors’ ongoing involvement in tournaments.
