Elite Team Wisconsin BJJ in Stevens Point was founded in 2018 by Professor Ben Price, a retired U.S. Navy veteran and the only IBJJF-certified black belt in Central Wisconsin. Ben’s approach is rooted in the belief that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is about more than technique or competition—it’s about helping regular people discover what they’re capable of in a supportive, ego-free environment. His teaching philosophy centers on accessibility, mutual support, and steady growth, with a strong emphasis on taking care of each other on the mats. Ben’s lineage runs directly through Gracie Humaita under Régis Lebre and Tom Knox, tying his instruction to the art’s original founders. Classes at Elite Team revolve around practical, fundamentals-driven gi Jiu-Jitsu for adults and kids, with sessions offered every day—mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Beginners are encouraged to learn at their own pace, with instructors guiding each step and experienced partners helping new students build confidence. The adult program covers takedowns, escapes, positional work, and submissions from the ground up, while specialized instruction includes a dedicated women’s program led by April, and competition-focused classes with Mikey for those interested in testing themselves further. Kids’ classes start at age seven and focus on discipline, confidence, and real self-defense skills in a safe, structured setting. The academy also rounds out its weekly schedule with no-gi open mats on weekends, MMA classes, yoga specifically tailored for grapplers, and a unique Parent & Me session on Saturdays. Drop-in visitors are welcome, and the gym’s small, family-run atmosphere means students quickly get to know everyone on the mat. At Elite Team, skill always comes before ego, and the goal is to help each person grow—on and off the mats—while keeping high-level Jiu-Jitsu accessible to the Stevens Point area.
