Electric North Jiu Jitsu

Electric North Jiu Jitsu was founded in 2015 in Lake Stevens, Washington by Greg Anderson, a black belt under World Champion Joao Assis of Checkmat. Greg brings over two decades of Special Operations and Law Enforcement experience to the mats, shaping a school that values discipline, hard work, and respect above all. The academy is Checkmat-affiliated through Leo Vieira and Joao Assis, and follows their approach to structured, effective Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction. Classes at Electric North cover a wide range of students, from beginners to advanced competitors. The adult program includes gi and no-gi training, with offerings like Jiu Jitsu 101 for newcomers, advanced no-gi sessions, and regular open mats for live application. There is also a women’s only gi class, reflecting a commitment to practical self-defense and accessibility for all. Drop-ins are welcome for most adult sessions. Youth development is a cornerstone at Electric North, with dedicated classes for kids ages 6–9 and youth ages 10–14. Coaches Wil Ngotel and Tyler Stanaway, both brown belts, lead the youth and kids programs, focusing on confidence, good sportsmanship, and building lifelong skills. The academy’s emphasis on camaraderie and a strong work ethic is apparent in every class, creating an environment where students are challenged to improve both on and off the mats.
