Deep Half Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Spanish Fork is guided by a team of instructors with decades of combined experience, including Brian Baker, a black belt with over 22 years on the mats who has trained under notable figures in both the US and Brazil. Alongside him, Corey Mince and Seth Connors bring 18 and 12 years of experience respectively, focusing on blending grappling fundamentals with practical self-defense applications. The academy’s instruction emphasizes real-world scenarios and self-defense, reflecting the instructors' backgrounds in competition as well as personal development through Jiu-Jitsu. Students at Deep Half train primarily in gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, progressing through fundamentals to advanced techniques under attentive guidance. The school offers adult classes that cover both beginner and advanced levels, complemented by open mat sessions for adults and grappling-focused open mats that welcome drop-ins. Youth classes introduce kids to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with an emphasis on self-defense and confidence-building, taught by instructors specialized in working with younger practitioners. Located upstairs at 28 East 100 North, the facility is wheelchair accessible and designed to serve a broad range of practitioners. Beyond the regular curriculum, Deep Half hosts specialized women’s self-defense classes and supports veterans through a partnership with the We Defy Foundation. The academy balances training with community activities, including seminars and social events, fostering an environment where students can develop both on and off the mat.
