Dade City BJJ

Dade City BJJ is led by Ray Wood, a seasoned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and retired professional MMA fighter with a background in high school wrestling. Ray began training at Young’s MMA in Maine and earned the Featherweight Professional Title for New England Fights, defending it twice before competing with Bellator, including a bout against AJ McKee. After his MMA career, he returned to BJJ training under Mark Bond, a decorated competitor who founded Dade City BJJ and now operates a sister school in Zephyrhills. This connection gives students access to a blend of experience and competitive insight from both schools. Training at Dade City BJJ covers a wide range of disciplines beyond traditional gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The academy offers classes in MMA striking, wrestling, and fitness, along with specialized programs for women and homeschoolers. Kids as young as beginners can start in the Little Ninjas gi classes, while teens and adults progress through fundamentals and more advanced levels. Open mat sessions are available for all adults to drill and spar outside of structured classes. The facility includes about 1,000 square feet of mat space, cage panels, and heavy bags, supporting a variety of martial arts training. The coaching team also includes Tiana Wood, a former collegiate All-American track and field athlete and strength and conditioning coach with national championship experience. She focuses on performance coaching, nutrition, and mental preparation, supporting fighters and members aiming to improve both on and off the mats. Dade City BJJ emphasizes practical skill development and physical conditioning, offering private lessons and strength and agility training alongside its martial arts curriculum. The gym is wheelchair accessible and welcomes drop-ins, providing a space for focused training in Dade City, Florida.
