Coventry BJJ Academy

Coventry BJJ Academy was established in 2010 by Black Belt Daymon Smith with the purpose of sharing the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle throughout Rhode Island. The school centers exclusively on Jiu-Jitsu training, aiming to help students improve their health, confidence, and overall well-being through consistent practice. Alongside Professor Smith, the coaching staff includes several black, brown, and purple belts who focus on fostering steady progress in technique and personal development. Classes at Coventry BJJ cover a range of skill levels and age groups, including dedicated sessions for kids and adults. The curriculum emphasizes foundational skills, with a clear path for advancement as students gain experience. The academy offers open mat sessions that welcome drop-ins, providing additional time for technique drilling and sparring in both gi and no-gi formats. Women’s classes and beginner-friendly options are part of the schedule, reflecting the school’s commitment to accessible training. Located at 53 Sandy Bottom Road, the facility is wheelchair accessible, supporting inclusivity within the student body.
