Cove Jiu Jitsu

Cove Jiu Jitsu operates under the guidance of Professors Koa Kalama and Chris Academia, both accomplished competitors with backgrounds that span in-state tournaments and Fight 2 Win Pro events. Koa, a first-degree black belt, leads the academy’s fundamental No-Gi and mixed-level classes, while Chris brings years of experience from Hawaii and Arizona to his role as co-founder and coach. Their combined expertise shapes a curriculum that balances technical development with real-world application, reflecting a shared commitment to helping students grow on and off the mats. Training at Cove includes a full schedule of gi and no-gi classes structured around age and skill level. Kids as young as four start in no-gi “Littles” classes that focus on movement and coordination, progressing into mixed-level gi and no-gi sessions designed to build confidence and discipline. Adults can also choose from gi or no-gi mixed-level classes, with open mat sessions available for extra drilling and sparring. The academy pays attention to personalized feedback and maintains a family-oriented atmosphere that supports steady progress. Located in Apache Junction, Arizona, Cove Jiu Jitsu offers wheelchair-accessible facilities and welcomes drop-ins for most classes.
