Damien’s teaching is rooted in the principles of mindfulness, respect, and applying logic under pressure—values he carried from his own training lineage, which traces back to Mitsuyo Maeda and Carlos Gracie Sr. His international experience as both a competitor and instructor shapes the academy’s approach, encouraging students to develop composure and problem-solving skills on the mat. Chroma’s coaching team brings a diverse set of experiences. Instructors include specialists in judo, trauma-informed teaching, creative arts, and youth mentorship. The kids’ program is divided into age-based groups—Hatchlings (4–7), Kaiju (7+), and Mecha (10–15)—with both gi and no-gi classes available for younger students. This structure supports not just physical skill development, but also confidence, emotional regulation, and a sense of belonging. The academy’s culture emphasizes inclusiveness and detail-oriented instruction, aiming to make Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu accessible and engaging for all ages and backgrounds.
