Carlson Gracie Sutton & Carshalton

Carlson Gracie Sutton & Carshalton was founded by father and son, Robert Dillon and River Dillon, both black belts under the renowned Carlson Gracie London lineage. Their journey began together on the mats at Hammersmith, with Robert first joining to support his son. Over the years, both became deeply involved in the art, training under Wilson Junior and Dickie Martin, two of the leading figures responsible for bringing the Carlson Gracie legacy to the UK. After more than 25 years combined experience and a wealth of competition success, the Dillons established their own academy in Carshalton, determined to continue the tradition of technical excellence and strong values that define the Carlson Gracie approach. The club offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for both adults and children, with sessions running on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturday mornings at locations in Carshalton. Classes are structured to accommodate all levels, with beginners and experienced practitioners training side by side under the guidance of the head coaches. Kids’ classes are open to all ages and focus on building confidence, discipline, and teamwork alongside technical skills, reflecting the Dillons’ belief in BJJ’s value beyond the competitive arena. Adult training covers the breadth of traditional gi-based Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, drawing directly from the methods and philosophy of Carlson Gracie London. The academy is drop-in friendly, making it accessible for those who wish to try a session or visitors from other teams. Both River and Robert bring a wealth of competition and coaching experience to the mats, with River known for his achievements at world, European, and British championships, and Robert for his role as both athlete and mentor.
