Brian Beaury Jiu Jitsu was founded in 2014 by Brian Beaury, a lifelong Capital Region resident who left collegiate baseball at SUNY Albany to fully dedicate himself to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Brian began training in 2008, earned his black belt in under five years, and has since competed and trained around the world with elite athletes. His competitive achievements include multiple NAGA and Grapplers Quest expert division titles, gold at No Gi American Nationals, and podium finishes at the World Pro Trials and international IBJJF events. Brian also brings experience from MMA and amateur boxing, holding undefeated records in both. The academy offers structured Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programs for adults and kids, with a focus on both gi and no-gi training. Adult students can join fundamentals and intermediate gi classes, as well as intermediate no-gi sessions, while younger students have dedicated kids’ gi classes. The curriculum balances technical instruction with live practice, reflecting Brian’s emphasis on both the art and integrity of jiu jitsu. Open mat sessions welcome drop-ins and provide time for students to refine skills at their own pace. In addition to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the academy includes instruction in Muay Thai and boxing, making it a practical choice for those interested in martial arts beyond grappling. With wheelchair access and a long-standing presence in Watervliet, the school serves the local community and welcomes students from all backgrounds to train in a safe and supportive environment.
