Brazilian Top Team Irving - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is led by Professor Leonardo Machado, a 4th degree black belt who has been training since 2003 and earned his black belt under Ricardo Marques of BTT Juiz de Fora. Professor Machado brings more than 20 years of experience to the mats, with over 29 international gold medals and a reputation for active competition. He is joined by Professor Misty, a 1st degree black belt recognized as a Pan Champion, American National Champion, and Master Worlds Champion, as well as Coach Elion Reis, who holds a first-degree black belt with over 15 years of experience. All instructors at BTT Irving share a deep commitment to technical excellence and enjoy guiding students at every stage. The academy’s kids programs are a cornerstone, with a clear structure and age progression. The Little Axes classes introduce children as young as four to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through games and carefully supervised techniques designed to build confidence, discipline, and coordination. As students grow, they move into the Strong Axes program for ages 8–15, which provides a more advanced curriculum in both gi and no-gi formats, emphasizing skill development, mental toughness, and opportunities for competition. The focus on safety and character-building is evident, and many families train together at the academy. Adults at BTT Irving can expect a full schedule of gi and no-gi classes, with training available for everyone from beginners to advanced competitors. Instruction is grounded in the Brazilian Top Team tradition, with classes covering fundamentals, self-defense, and competition preparation. Open mat sessions give students time to apply techniques and roll in a less structured setting. The academy welcomes drop-ins and provides a wheelchair-accessible facility, making it possible for a wide range of students to experience training under internationally accomplished coaches.
