Brausa Carlson Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu traces its roots to the Carlson Gracie lineage, known for its traditional gi-based Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with an emphasis on physicality and pressure passing. Located at 33 Railroad Ave in Westerly, Rhode Island, the academy carries forward this legacy by focusing on the core principles taught by Carlson Gracie and his students. The school's approach centers on developing strong fundamentals through disciplined training, reflecting the style’s historic connection to both self-defense and competitive success. At Brausa Carlson Gracie, students progress through structured classes that emphasize technique refinement and live drilling. While detailed information on class schedules and specific programs is limited, the academy maintains the Carlson Gracie tradition of prioritizing gi training, with an understanding of no-gi as a complementary modality rather than the main focus. This allows practitioners to build a solid foundation in grips, positional control, and transitions that define the Carlson methodology. The gym’s location in Westerly supports a local training environment where practitioners of all ages can pursue Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grounded in a time-tested lineage. Though specifics on additional martial arts or cross-training options are not provided, the academy’s adherence to Carlson Gracie principles suggests a commitment to the classical BJJ curriculum, typically including fundamentals for beginners through advanced competitive techniques for seasoned students.
