Black Tie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - Bonita Springs was opened in 2018 by Corey Brown, a third-degree black belt whose journey in grappling began with wrestling at age 11 and continued through a decorated career in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Brown’s lineage traces directly through Jorge Pereira, Leo Dalla, and Chad Lebrun, connecting the school to a well-documented technical tradition. Before founding Black Tie, Brown built a résumé that includes IBJJF Pan American gold, ADCC Open championships, and numerous titles across no-gi and gi divisions, as well as a background in judo and MMA. At the Bonita Springs location, training covers the full range of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with structured gi and no-gi classes for adults, a dedicated women’s beginner class led by Coach Dre, and specialized wrestling and judo sessions reflecting Brown’s cross-disciplinary roots. The kids’ program is a central focus, with instruction from experienced students like C.J., a brown belt who has competed regularly since 2017 and now helps coach both youth and adult classes. Classes are designed to build practical skill, confidence, and a deep understanding of grappling, whether a student’s interest is self-defense, recreation, or competition. Open mat sessions are available for students who want extra time to roll or drill, and drop-ins are welcome during normal hours. The academy’s structure and curriculum reflect Brown’s belief in spreading the benefits of Jiu-Jitsu as widely as possible, balancing serious technical instruction with a strong emphasis on personal connections and long-term development.
