Black Cat Jiu Jitsu was founded in 2022 by Adam Benayoun with the goal of bringing high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to Springfield, Virginia. Adam’s journey began as a teenager in New York City and led him to train under some of the sport’s most accomplished athletes, including Lucas Lepri, Marcelo Garcia, and Ryan Hall, under whom he earned his second-degree black belt. As both a competitor on the international stage and an experienced MMA coach in promotions such as the UFC and ONE FC, Adam brings a deep technical background and a practical coaching style to every class. The academy operates out of a custom-designed 4,200-square-foot facility, supporting more than 200 active members. The training schedule covers a broad range of programs for both adults and kids. Adults can join mixed-level no-gi sessions, dedicated wrestling classes, introductory gi and no-gi classes, and a women’s only gi class. For those looking to push their training, the Marathon Roll sessions offer extended sparring time. The kids program is structured around no-gi classes, giving younger students a focused start in grappling fundamentals. Black Cat welcomes drop-ins and is wheelchair accessible. The academy is built to foster discipline, confidence, and personal growth, with a team of instructors dedicated to helping students progress at every stage. The focus remains on providing a safe, competitive learning environment where students of all backgrounds can develop both on and off the mats.
