BJJ Coach / Maddox Martial Arts Academy is led by Professor Brad Maddox, a third-degree black belt under fifth-degree black belt Marcello C. Monteiro. Located in Thorntown, Indiana, the academy occupies over 1,800 square feet of training space at 101 East Main Street. Professor Maddox oversees instruction alongside first-degree black belt Tyler Largent and Adam Wilder, who holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a black band in Muay Thai. The academy’s lineage traces directly to Monteiro, grounding its Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu curriculum in traditional principles taught from beginner to advanced levels. Training at Maddox Martial Arts Academy includes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for adults starting at age 13, as well as a “Little Warrior” program for children aged 5 to 12 focusing on fundamental jiu-jitsu techniques. The academy also offers specialized self-defense training tailored for law enforcement. Beyond BJJ, the facility provides Muay Thai instruction led by black belt-level coaches, making it unique in the surrounding counties for combining both arts under one roof. Class schedules accommodate a variety of training needs, with weekday evening sessions and morning classes for kids. The gym maintains wheelchair accessibility and aims to serve practitioners interested in competition, self-defense, or fitness.
