Battlezone - (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu,Boxing in London was founded with a clear mission: to cultivate discipline, respect and steady progression in martial arts within an ego-free environment. Head coach Luan Breda, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with competitive experience across respected teams such as Gracie Barra and Checkmat, leads the academy. Since beginning BJJ in 2008 and continuing his training under Jackson Sousa, Luan has built Battlezone MMA as a space where students from beginners to competitors receive technical instruction and personalised coaching. The academy also benefits from a diverse coaching team including Raquel Santos, an IBJJF European Champion who heads the women’s BJJ programme, and Mehmet Maslak, a professional MMA fighter, ensuring a broad skillset is available to all members. Training at Battlezone covers a comprehensive range of disciplines and levels. The BJJ curriculum includes gi classes for all levels, from beginner fundamentals to advanced sessions, alongside no-gi and wrestling classes that sharpen grappling and positional control. The academy also supports younger practitioners with kids’ BJJ and Muay Thai classes designed to build confidence and discipline in a safe setting. Women’s only BJJ sessions provide a focused environment for female students to develop their skills. Complementing the grappling arts, Muay Thai and MMA classes round out the programme, emphasising striking, wrestling and submission techniques for practical self-defence and competition readiness. Battlezone operates six days a week from early morning to late evening, allowing flexible training times for a variety of schedules. Open mat sessions offer additional opportunities for sparring and drilling outside structured classes. Located on Coburg Road in North London, the gym welcomes drop-ins and encourages a team atmosphere where mutual improvement is valued over ego. This commitment to a supportive training culture and certified coaching standards has established Battlezone MMA as a respected community hub for martial arts in Greater London.
