Athletex Jiu Jitsu Lake Tahoe is led by Professor Rob Pyfer, a black belt under Fabiano Scherner with a background in collegiate wrestling and mixed martial arts. The school operates under the guidance of Senior Professor Lucas Barbosa, a multiple-time black belt world champion whose lineage traces back through Carlos Gracie Sr. and Osvaldo Alves. Since opening in late 2023, Athletex has built its identity around a disciplined, competition-focused approach rooted in Atos Jiu-Jitsu’s curriculum, blending rigorous technical instruction with a culture of respect and dedication.
