Ares BJJ Goodyear

Ares BJJ Goodyear was founded with a clear purpose: to offer high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction to students of all ages in Goodyear, grounded in the championship lineage of Professor Osvaldo “Queixinho” Moizinho. Queixinho, a 3rd degree black belt, built his reputation training under Soul Fighters founders and alongside Caio Terra, later establishing the Ares BJJ team after earning multiple world and Pan American titles. His vision for the academy is rooted in practical, realistic training and a belief that martial arts can change lives one person at a time. The teaching staff brings together a mix of decorated athletes and lifelong martial artists. Assistant instructor Keven Carrasco, a black belt and IBJJF Pan Am champion, and Nathalia Mendonca, a brown belt who grew up learning from her father Professor Queixinho, both teach kids and adults. The team also includes coaches with deep wrestling backgrounds, such as Jared Hochstettler, an Arizona high school state champion, and Steve Aguirre, who brings years of fitness and youth coaching experience. Together, they ensure students get both technical Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and strong foundational grappling. The class structure at Ares BJJ Goodyear is designed to support students at every stage, from Little Grapplers (ages 4–6, with both gi and no-gi options) through youth and teen programs, up to adult classes in both gi and no-gi formats. Adult instruction covers fundamentals, all-levels rolling, and advanced gi training for blue belts and above. The academy encourages family participation and welcomes drop-ins, with wheelchair access for added inclusivity. Every program reflects the founders’ commitment to helping students develop on and off the mats, whether they are just getting started or seeking to refine their competitive skills.
