Claim this gymApex BJJ in Holroyd was founded by Professor Parwaiz Haidary (Spud), a BJJ black belt with over two decades of experience, and Coach Sid Halabi, a brown belt with more than nine years on the mats. Both coaches have roots in Gracie and Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and their approach is shaped by years spent competing, teaching, and refining their methods. Apex was established as a place where teaching is taken as seriously as training, with a focus on clear instruction, structured progression, and genuine student development. The team has built a reputation for breaking down complex techniques and adapting their curriculum to help students see real progress, whether the goal is self-defence, competition, or simply mastering the art. Training at Apex BJJ covers the full spectrum of grappling. There are dedicated gi and no-gi classes for adults, each with a structured curriculum that moves from fundamentals to advanced techniques, including an emphasis on takedowns and modern leg lock systems. Wrestling is a key part of the program, led by a nationally accredited coach, and judo elements are incorporated to round out the stand-up game. Apex runs women’s-only BJJ classes in a private, separate space, as well as mixed classes for those who prefer to train together. Kids’ programs are split into two age groups—4-8 and 8-12—with a strong focus on confidence, focus, and social skills, making it accessible for children facing challenges like ADHD or autism. The academy operates from early mornings through to late evenings on weekdays, with extended hours on Saturdays and a Sunday session, catering to both shift workers and busy families. The facility itself includes an open kitchen and a dedicated weights gym, available at no extra cost to members. Apex BJJ also maintains a strong connection to the local community, working with emergency services and local sporting teams to share practical grappling skills. Regular events, competitions, and social gatherings are a fixture, reflecting the academy’s commitment to building not just better grapplers, but a strong, supportive local network.
