Claim this gymAnchorage Brazilian BJJ has established itself in Alaska’s largest city as a training ground for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, mixed martial arts, and striking. The academy’s team of instructors brings together backgrounds in BJJ, Muay Thai, wrestling, and MMA, providing students with access to a range of grappling and striking styles. While the gym’s roots are in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, its curriculum reflects a belief in blending traditional technique with the demands of modern martial arts. The class structure at Anchorage BJJ covers the full spectrum of experience, from BJJ Fundamentals in both gi and no-gi to advanced drilling sessions and competition-focused sparring. Adults can train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the gi, no-gi, or as submission wrestling, and have additional options in Muay Thai, kickboxing, and MMA, including dedicated sparring classes. Women’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is on the schedule, supporting a focused space for female practitioners. Open mats are held regularly and drop-ins are welcome, making it easy for visitors or traveling martial artists to join a session. Kids’ programs start with Nano Ninjas for ages 3–4, progress to Little Warriors (gi and no-gi) for ages 5 and up, and lead into advanced youth BJJ and striking for older children. The schedule also features kids’ kickboxing and footwork classes, as well as an invite-only Advanced Kids No-Gi class for experienced youth grapplers. This layered approach gives young students a path from their first class to advanced training as they grow.
