Claim this gymAmerican Top Team Watertown’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program is shaped by the experience and leadership of Rick Huntsman, who took over as head instructor in August 2022. Rick began his martial arts journey in 2014 at the academy’s earlier incarnation, Jiu Jitsu Nation, and has been a consistent influence ever since. He earned his purple belt under Coach Paul Elliot, a BJJ black belt since 2018 under Marc Stevens, and brings years of teaching fitness and martial arts to the mats. Rick also draws on his background in amateur MMA and is closely involved with developing the school’s fight team, guiding both recreational students and competitors. The BJJ curriculum at ATT Watertown covers both gi and no-gi instruction for adults, with separate youth classes introducing children to the fundamentals. Rick and his fellow coaches focus on practical, fundamental jiu-jitsu, regularly incorporating new techniques from seminars and private lessons with world-class black belts. The schedule includes gi and no-gi classes, women’s jiu-jitsu, open mat sessions, and youth training, giving students a chance to train in different formats and at their own pace. For women, Rachel Vincent leads self-defense and jiu-jitsu classes, drawing on her own progression through the ranks and competition experience. Beyond Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the academy offers a full slate of martial arts and fitness programs, including MMA, boxing, “Bang” Muay Thai, cardio kickboxing, and strength and conditioning. The coaching staff features instructors with deep competitive backgrounds and recognized rankings in their respective arts—such as Dylan Heath and Joee Frattali in Muay Thai and boxing. Drop-ins are welcome, and the gym regularly hosts open mat sessions for visitors and members alike.
