Amelia Island Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is led by Professor Brandon Gebel, who began training in 2012 without prior martial arts experience. After earning his blue belt in 2014, he started teaching youth classes and later trained under multi-time IBJJF world champion Diego Bispo, receiving his black belt in 2022. Brandon’s coaching emphasizes technical precision and methodical progression, reflecting his competitive background and dedication to helping students reach their potential. The academy offers a structured curriculum that serves all ages, starting with Littles Gi classes for children as young as three, progressing through youth beginner and advanced programs, and extending to adult gi and no-gi classes. The schedule includes specialized sessions such as Stretch, Strength & Stability and Strike Fit, supporting overall athletic development. Open mat sessions for youth and adults provide additional training opportunities, and private lessons are available by appointment. Located in Fernandina Beach, the gym maintains accessible facilities and accommodates homeschool youth programs alongside traditional classes. While gi training forms the core of the instruction, no-gi classes complement the curriculum, reflecting a balanced approach. The academy’s mission centers on fostering self-confidence and discipline through consistent effort, aiming to serve both hobbyists and competitors within the Amelia Island community.
