Alpha MMA/RCBJJ Lawton

Alpha MMA/RCBJJ Lawton has been a fixture for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA in southwest Oklahoma since 2009, officially taking shape as RCBJJ-Lawton under the leadership of Derek Lemos and Tom Shoaff in 2017. The academy runs as an affiliate of the Cavalcanti Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association and the Renzo Gracie fight team, carrying forward the tradition of Master Ricardo Cavalcanti—a 5th degree black belt who earned his rank under Carlson Gracie Sr. in 1995. This direct lineage ties the gym to some of the most influential names in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The coaching group at Alpha MMA/RCBJJ Lawton has guided athletes to compete in major promotions like Bellator, Legacy Fighting Alliance, and HD MMA, as well as numerous BJJ tournaments across Oklahoma and Texas. Their longstanding presence in Lawton reflects a consistent dedication to both the sport and the local scene, offering students dependable instruction grounded in real competition experience. Training at the academy covers the full spectrum: traditional gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for adults and kids, lunchtime BJJ classes for flexible scheduling, and adult MMA alongside boxing and kickboxing programs. Kids’ BJJ is a staple, and adults can take advantage of open mat sessions and drop-in friendly classes. The facility is wheelchair accessible, and the team encourages students to register for tournaments under the Ricardo Cavalcanti Lawton name, reinforcing both lineage and team spirit.
