131 Harriet St, Winona, MN
Alliance Brazilian Jiu Jitsu River City is led by Erik Miner, a black belt under the Alliance Jiu Jitsu organization and a native of Winona, Minnesota. Erik began training in 2005 after moving to the Twin Cities and has since competed nationally and internationally, earning medals at various tournaments. His experience includes training alongside world champions, Olympic-level grapplers, and NCAA national champions. In 2021, Erik returned to Winona to open this academy, bringing the Alliance style and its culture back to his hometown. At River City BJJ, the focus is on sharing the lifestyle and discipline of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with both adults and children. The academy offers gi classes for all levels, with a kids’ program called Little Eagles Jiu-Jitsu designed to build foundational skills and character. The adult classes emphasize steady progression through fundamentals and advanced techniques within the Alliance framework, maintaining a balance of sport and self-defense applications. The gym operates from its location on Harriet Street and accommodates drop-in students. The facility is wheelchair accessible, reflecting a practical approach to inclusivity. While the core curriculum centers on gi training, the school’s connection to Alliance Jiu Jitsu provides access to a broader network of practitioners and competition opportunities. Open mats and community events supplement the regular class schedule, supporting ongoing development for dedicated students.
