Alliance Puyallup Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Alliance Jiu Jitsu Puyallup is led by John Cofer, a third-degree black belt with roots in the Alliance team and a long history in martial arts dating back to the mid-1990s. John’s path began with karate before he found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1997 under Professor Claudio Franca. After a break following his move to Washington, he returned to Jiu-Jitsu and earned his black belt in 2017 from Professor Michael Feritter. As a Navy veteran, John brings a disciplined and community-minded approach to teaching, also running law enforcement defensive tactics workshops in the region. His experience shapes a school that values proper technique and steady progression. Classes at Alliance Puyallup follow a structured model that respects the Alliance lineage and training philosophy. The academy offers separate programs for various age groups, starting with preschoolers as young as three years old, moving through kids’ classes divided by age brackets, and continuing with adult classes that cover both gi and no-gi training. Women have a dedicated gi class, and there is a competition class for those looking to sharpen their skills for tournaments. Open mat sessions provide extra time for drilling and sparring beyond regular classes. The mix of gi and no-gi options lets students develop a balanced game under one roof.
