Alliance BJJ Lacey

Alliance BJJ Lacey operates under the direction of James Johnson Jr., whose martial arts background spans Tang Soo Do, high school wrestling, and Greco-Roman wrestling at an international competitive level. Johnson’s military service and wrestling experience inform the academy's disciplined and technical approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, emphasizing continuous growth and goal-oriented training. The school is part of Alliance BJJ Washington, serving the Lacey area with a focus on solid fundamentals and skill development across ages. The curriculum is structured to guide practitioners from early childhood through advanced adult levels. For the youngest students, the Baby Eagles class introduces basic movements and coordination through play, while the Eagles program for kids seven and older builds on technique, self-defense, and leadership. Adults begin with fundamentals classes designed for white belts, progressing to intermediate and advanced sessions that deepen technical knowledge and positional understanding. No-Gi classes are available for those with a solid foundation, offering a faster-paced training environment. Women’s Only classes, led by female instructors, provide a dedicated space for female practitioners of all ages and skill levels. Classes run throughout the week, including early mornings and midday sessions, accommodating a variety of schedules. Open mat sessions are offered on weekends, allowing students to drill and spar freely. The facility is wheelchair accessible, supporting inclusivity in training.
