Alamo Heights Combat Club

Alamo Heights Combat Club was founded to bring high-standard Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to Alamo Heights, with a focus on building real skill, discipline, and confidence for both kids and adults. The academy is led by Professor Nuno Martins, a Portuguese black belt under Arnaldo Alves, who brings extensive experience from years competing across Europe and the IBJJF circuit. His journey from airline pilot to accomplished jiu-jitsu athlete shapes the club’s practical, methodical approach to teaching. Classes here are structured by age and experience, starting with the Lil’ Mules program for kids as young as three, and progressing through Young Mules and Mules for older children. Teens and adults can train together in both gi and no-gi classes, with an emphasis on fundamentals, self-defense, and fitness. The schedule includes dedicated self-defense sessions, wrestling classes, and frequent open mats, making it possible for students to find training that fits their goals and availability. Private lessons and after-school programs are also available. The club’s teaching style is hands-on, with instructors guiding students through technical skills and real-world self-defense. There is a strong focus on personal growth, teamwork, and respect—values that carry over from the mats into daily life. Drop-ins are welcome at open mat, and the gym offers a family-oriented atmosphere where students of all ages are encouraged to challenge themselves and support one another.
