215 S 1000 E, Salt Lake City, UT
10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Salt Lake City is led by Dr. Amir Allam, a 3rd-degree black belt under Eddie Bravo, ADCC veteran, and Quintet Champion. Amir brings more than 15 years of training directly in the 10th Planet system, as well as a sharp academic background as a research professor at the University of Utah. His approach to teaching combines a deep competitive pedigree with a methodical, strategic curriculum that draws on both science and the famously creative, unorthodox movement that defines 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu. Classes here are strictly no-gi, with a focus on submission-oriented grappling and problem-solving in live situations. The schedule offers early morning, midday, and evening sessions such as Lunatics Jiu-Jitsu, Fundamentals, All Levels, specialized leg lock classes, and regular sparring. Kids’ no-gi classes are also available, introducing younger students to the 10th Planet approach. The academy welcomes beginners and experienced grapplers alike, emphasizing flexibility, creativity, and the ability to adapt to unpredictable positions rather than relying on traditional gi grips or belt systems. The facility sits in the heart of Salt Lake City, featuring over 1,000 square feet of mat space, showers, and changing rooms. Drop-ins are welcome, and the atmosphere is intentionally ego-free, with a sense of humor and camaraderie running through both the coaching staff and the students. Whether it’s open mat or a structured class, the training is designed to challenge, entertain, and develop anyone willing to put in the work—no gi required.
