10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Decatur

10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Decatur was the first 10th Planet academy to open in the southeastern United States, bringing Eddie Bravo’s no-gi system to Decatur, Alabama. The gym was founded and is led by Brandon McCaghren, who is recognized for his attention to technical detail and his dedication to teaching. Alongside Brandon, coaches like Josh Diaddario, Nick Sahf, Sawyer Griffin, Jackson Spry, Tyler “Ginger” Spurlin, and Matt Skaff help cover classes for both adults and kids. Training at 10th Planet Decatur centers on no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, reflecting the affiliation’s style. Adult classes include structured instruction and live rounds, with an open mat for extra practice or visitors passing through. Kids have their own jiu-jitsu program, taught by instructors experienced with younger students. The schedule also lists mixed martial arts and other striking arts, making the facility a place where students can cross-train in grappling and striking under one roof. The academy welcomes drop-ins and offers classes for all ages, from children to adults. The facility is wheelchair accessible. 10th Planet Decatur continues to serve as a local home for no-gi jiu-jitsu and MMA, with a coaching staff that puts a strong emphasis on helping students understand the details of the art.
