10th Planet Grass Valley Jiu Jitsu

10th Planet Grass Valley Jiu Jitsu is led by Head Coach Brandon Agawa, a 3rd degree brown belt and movement specialist with decades of training in grappling, strength, and conditioning. The academy was founded by Michael Hillebrand, a 3rd degree black belt under Eddie Bravo, and Agawa, bringing the 10th Planet system and its unique no-gi approach to Nevada County. As part of the 10th Planet Savages network, the gym connects Grass Valley students to a global family of academies including locations from Oakland to Saigon. Training at 10th Planet Grass Valley focuses exclusively on no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, following Eddie Bravo’s system known for its innovative techniques and emphasis on submission grappling without the traditional gi. The academy offers programs for toddlers as young as two years old with a Parent & Me class that develops coordination and strength through play. For kids ages 4 to 13, classes run Monday through Friday with instruction tailored to build confidence, discipline, and technical skills in a safe environment. Adults train six days a week in all-level no-gi classes that accommodate everyone from beginners to competitors, with a curriculum designed to develop practical skills and physical conditioning. The academy operates on a membership basis with unlimited classes included, encouraging consistent training to build long-term progress. Family memberships are available, making it accessible for multiple household members to train together. The facility is wheelchair accessible and hosts regular class viewings for prospective students to observe before committing.
